Laure Le Blanc
Laure spent her childhood in Normandy before moving to Paris for Prep classes. Fascinated by sciences, she firstly devoted herself to theoretical physics and mathematics. What a mistake! She rapidly realized that she desires to create something with her own hands and realized that doing experiments was the way. In search of experimental work, she attended the engineering school that makes her dream: ESPCI Paris, the school of Pierre and Marie Curie, and four other Nobel Prizes!
There, Laure discovered that innovation arises at the interface between different fields of research such as physics and biology so that she decided to focus on fluid mechanics for health from microscale to blood vessels during a Master 2 at Ecole Polytechnique.
What’s next? Laure has joined Institut Pasteur in 2019 for a PhD, co-advised by Guillaume Dumenil and Daria Bonazzi, in collaboration with Morgan at LAAS-CNRS, for his microfabrication and mechanobiology expertise. Laure’s main goal is now to decipher the impact of bacterial confinement on the progression of vascular infections using state-of-the-art microfluidics, genetic tools, and last-generation microscopy.
