Mickaël Di Luoffo

Mickaël Di Luoffo

Mickaël comes from the city of green heart: St Etienne. After medical studies, he decided to use his curiosity in biological research. He performed a bachelor in cell biology and physiology at University J. Monnet of St Etienne. Interested in Life Sciences, he moved to Toulouse to perform a master 1 in health biology at P. Sabatier University followed by a master 2 in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnologies at C. Bernard University (Lyon).

Moving to Toulouse was the first step in his aspirations as a traveling bird. In 2012, he decided to cross the Atlantic in order to expand his research field. He did his Ph.D. in cellular and molecular biology at Laval University (Quebec, Canada) under the supervision of J.J. Tremblay. His research in biology of reproduction was focused on the impact of the transcription factor MEF2 (Myocyte Enhancer Factor 2) in steroidogenic functions in Leydig cells.

With strong training and skills in molecular and cellular biology, he decided to come back to Europe and started a post-doctoral Marie Curie fellowship in cancer biology at de Duve Institute, UCLouvain (Brussels, Belgium). His work was to study different models of liver cancers in oncogene mutated context. One part of his project was interesting in the modeling of the pathway activation involved in hepatocarcinoma and a second part in the cholangiocarcinoma progression in K-RAS mutated/inflammation contexts. His interest in cancer research and K-RAS oncogene has grown during these 4 years.

With his previous international expertise, he is now back to Toulouse in order to continue his training with Morgan Delarue in the MILE team at LAAS-CNRS. This second post-doctoral fellow is in close collaboration with the team 17 of Julie Guillermet-Guibert at the CRCT. At the frontier of physics and biology, he will study the impact of mechanical compressive stresses on pancreatic cancer progression and treatment in vivo.
