Amélie Guerre
Amélie was born and raised in Fenouillet, near Toulouse.
She grew up in a family of veterinarians and thus developed an interest in nature, biology, and medicine. After discovering fundamental physics and the drawbacks of beeing a veterinarian in high school, she reluctantly left biology behind to attend a preparatory class in physics and chemistry in Toulouse, with the intention of pursuing research.
She continued her studies at the engineering school Télécom Physique Strasbourg with the same goal, and had the opportunity during her third year to shift towards a more biological focus by pursuing a dual diploma in the M2 Cell Physics program at the University of Strasbourg. During this year, she was reintroduced to topics such as apoptosis, morphogenesis, cell fate, and the underlying physics. She applied for an internship and thesis project offered by the CBI, LPT, and LAAS-CNRS laboratories, under the supervision of Magali Suzanne, Tatiana Merle, Wylie Ahmed, and the Delarue’s team, to explore the correlation between compressive stress, macromolecular crowding, and apoptosis in epithelial cells and tissues.
